Puppy Preschool

Start your puppy out on the right paw!

33% of dogs who die under the age of 3 are euthanised for behaviour problems.

Most of the time, these problems could have been prevented with the right training and socialisation plan.

Be proactive.

Prevention is better than cure.

PREVENT SEPARATION ANXIETY

Separation anxiety is stressful for you and your puppy. When puppies aren't taught how to be happy alone, they can become very stressed, which will lead to many behavioural problems.

They might start chewing your furniture, toileting indoors, pacing around the house, and start a bork-a-thon with the neighbourhood dogs.

Don’t wait for the symptoms to develop. Let's teach your puppy to look forward to alone time, and avoid all the stress of separation anxiety!

TOILET TRAINING

Toilet training your puppy correctly is extremely important. The habits they pick up during their first month in your home can become life-long habits.

Learn how to properly communicate with your puppy. Teach them where to pee, and encourage them when they get it right!

Make sure you know exactly what kind of schedule your puppy needs to be on to ensure toilet training success!

WALKING ON LEAD

Allowing a puppy to pull on the lead might look cute when they're small, but these habits will be very difficult to change once they've been practicing lead-pulling for several months or even a few years!

If you have a larger breed, that lead-pulling habit will stop being cute and start to become dangerous. They could pull you over or hurt themselves from the constant strain.

You want your puppy to have fun out on walks - so that's why we make training fun!

RECALL TRAINING

Training your puppy to be off-lead is absolutely essential.

Walking around on the lead is not proper exercise. It's nice for them to be able to sniff, but dogs need to be able to run full-speed to truly stretch out their leg muscles.

Being able to exercise properly off the lead builds good muscle condition around their joints, which helps prevent joint weakness and expensive surgeries later in life! It's also better for their physical health and mental wellbeing.

Teaching your puppy a reliable recall from day one is the best way to achieve off-lead control and safety.

PREVENT REACTIVITY

Your puppy may be placid and friendly right now, but that doesn't mean they won't become reactive when they're adolescents! The symptoms of poor socialisation don't show until around 6-12 months old.

Your puppy's brain is most open to new people and experiences up to the age of 12 weeks. So if you get your puppy at 8 weeks old, you've only got a tiny bit of time left to socialise them properly. Socialisation after 12 weeks is possible, but it’s more difficult. Get the correct guidance from day one with our Puppy Training Package.

Do the work early on and you will save yourself a lot of trouble in the future.

TEETHING & CHEWING

It's normal for puppies to chew a lot until they finish teething at around 8 months of age.

Do you really know how to toy-chew train your puppy? Providing them with a variety of toys is a good start, but that won't prevent them from chewing on your shoes!

GROOMING & VET CARE

Far too many dogs are fearful or even become aggressive at the vets and groomers. Many of them were perfectly tolerant until they were 6-9 months old!

You can prepare your puppy at home by doing regular handling exercises!

Show your puppy that being handled and groomed is a relaxing and fun experience.

You will reduce stress for your puppy when they're older, and you will help keep your vet safe too!

BASIC OBEDIENCE

Having a well behaved dog is a great privilege which we earn through hard work and dedication. While socialisation is the most important aspect of raising a puppy, basic obedience is so much fun and helps develop a strong and positive bond.

Teaching your puppy not to jump out of the car as soon as you open the door, not to jump up on strangers, and other basic manners are so important for raising a well-mannered adult dog.

Everyone will love being around your puppy, and when they're an adult they'll get a lot of positive attention which will help them maintain good social skills.
